Presentation ideas, 7 tech tools to create better presentations in 2012

Presentation ideas, let’s talk about it!

I sometimes wonder why people still insist on using antiquated technology when presenting (well or you don’t use tech or you use great tech right?).

There is so much cool stuff being launched that will make these presentations go from ordinary to exceptional. When it comes to presentation ideas, the sky is literally the limit.

Let’s have a look at 7 cool tech tools that will make your presentation idea a reality.

Presentation ideas #1) Sphero

The first one that I am curious about at the moment is the Sphero (an interesting new technology when thinking around presentation ideas). This is a little robotic ball that was developed by Orbotix. Basically you can use your iPhone to control the ball, moving it around a three dimensional space with just your finger on the screen.

The developers say it is a form of mixed reality – control in a virtual world which results in a physical action in the real world. This tool didn’t start off as a new presentation idea to make presentations more interactive. It is being developed mainly for gaming purposes but in my mind, I think it would be a brilliant tool for changing slides or prompting videos or audio. We will have to see if it develops along those lines and how to integrate it with presentations (and inspire new presentation ideas).

Presentation ideas #2) Tablets and smartphones

These devices are pushing presentations into a new direction.
At the most basic level, you are able to use your phone or tablet to change slides without having to crane your head back to see if the presentation slides have actually changed as they were supposed to.
You won’t lose your train of thought or the audiences’ attention because you are messing around with the equipment.
Instead it will be seamless and painless, just a flick of the finger on the touch screen.

Presentation ideas #3) Pico Projectors

Small projectors have also caught my attention when thinking around presentation ideas.

It can basically transform every moment into a presentation moment!
This little gadget is a mini projector which can fit into your pocket – an image projector in a handheld device. It was developed in response to the fact that most personal devices can handle presentations but lack the ability to project them. It can project onto any surface such as a wall or a projection screen.
This is exactly what is needed for presentations on the go – it will minimize all of the equipment that needs to be set up and the images it projects are apparently crystal clear.

Presentation ideas #4) Fitbit

Seeing as everyone is becoming more concerned about their health, I have decided to introduce the Fitbit and other health trackers. Created by Fitbit Inc, the device is a wireless wearable gadget that measure fitness and health related data such as steps walked and quality of sleep.
Although it is being used primarily by many people to join communities with other people who will encourage them online to stay fit, I believe that the Fitbit could also be used with presentations. In the same way as the Fitbit is being used to ‘gamefy’ fitness, I think that it could possibly be used to gamefy presentations – a presentations idea I’ve been thinking about for quit some time.
Tools displaying your fitness levels could be integrated or it could be used to pump up the presentation in some way – we will have to keep an eye on those developments but in the meantime.

Presentation ideas #5) Keepvid

Keepvid is helpful to download videos because it is very frustrating to find the perfect video clip online but then to find out that you can’t download directly off the site. Keepvid is a tool that can be used to download videos as files on your PC. This is a very handy tool for the presentation arsenal – for each presentation idea, there’s a video about it somewhere (just check with your lawyer that you are not doing anything wrong ;).

Presentation ideas #6) Pinterest

Pinterest has certainly piqued everyone’s interest – it is a social media platform that is focused on images and videos. It functions in much the same way as a conventional pin board on your bedroom wall would but members are able to connect to each other and share comments and images with each other.
Pinterest images are going to be flooding the internet and will be making an appearance in presentations too. There is lots of inspiration to be found from visiting the website.

Presentation ideas #7) Fiverr

Fiverr
is another brilliant website – you can get a whole range of things done for you for $5. It is cheap and some of the things they can do are pretty amazing. Have a presentation idea that requires a specific skill? Need someone to write a killer intro or a jingle for a presentation or even the Pixar intro but with your name on it? You can get all of this done at Fiverr and for only $5 – bargain!

So as you can see, there is absolutely no reason why anyone should have to sit through a boring, bullet pointed, text heavy presentation ever again.
